Assessments
The assessment is a critical element of a court order or treatment process. It is extremely important that you take your time in your selection and not be persuaded by free or low cost assessments that can bring with them a high priced and long term treatment recommendation. The assessment is multi-dimensional to allow me to make the most appropriate recommendations and help identify individual and personal goals. Assessments are in a relaxed environment and carefully conducted taking approximately two hours.
Assessments at Eastside Addiction Professionals-Laura Halford, CDP, LMHC meet the Washington State requirements for a legal proceeding. In legal cases you will be required to obtain and bring a copy of your driving record. You will find information on how to obtain your record at the Department of Licensing. Chemical Dependency Counseling
Several issues are addressed in counseling including education, relapse triggers and warning signs and exploring patterns and feelings in relationships that contribute to substance abuse. Counseling is a collaborative process of two human beings working together toward emotional health and as such a treatment plan is designed together with emphasis on the needs of the client.
Mental Health Counseling
A preliminary diagnosis is determined to assist in developing a comprehensive treatment plan. Psychotherapy is a critical element in regaining mental health, balance and a sense of well being. Referrals to psychiatrists will be made if it is determined that medical assistance would be advantageous.
Group Therapy Treatment groups follow a curriculum designed to provide education about addiction and recovery. If you have been referred to Level one outpatient treatment this is an appropriate group for you. If you have already completed the intensive phase of intensive outpatient treatment (phase one) and would like to move into a continuing care group the following group would be most appropriate and would meet the legal requirements, if you have any.
Continuing care groups typically take place after a course of inpatient treatment or phase one of intensive outpatient treatment. Continuing care groups are designed to support the initial gains made in the early phase of treatment. They provide an opportunity to gain even more understanding about addiction and recovery but also assist participants in uncovering personality traits that are difficult, if not impossible, to see alone. Being in a group can also assist in gaining a more meaningful and deeper understanding of one's growing edges. Groups are relaxed and small with other motivated individuals who are committed to improving their life.
If you have relapsed, group therapy provides a caring and compassionate place to examine yourself and gain awareness and insight into personal triggers and warning signs preceding relapse.
Adult Children of Alcoholics
For those who grew up in
the chaos of addiction there is often difficulty in relationships both
personally and professionally. In a relaxed environment we work
together to assess personal needs and develop an effective plan for
change. Education is an essential part of overcoming the emotional pain
and isolation of poor boundaries.
